Dr. Taylor attended Undergrad school at the University of Alabama Birmingham from 1990-1992. He attended Medical school at the University of Alabama from 1992-1996. He did his General surgery residency from 1996 to 2001 at University of Alabama Birminghm and Vascular surgery fellowship at University of Alabama Birmingham from 2001 to 2004. He is Board Certified in General and Vascular Surgery. He is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) and is one of few physicians in the Birmingham area that is PEVAR (Percutaneous Endovascular Aneurysm Repair) certified. Hyperbaric Chamber Certified for wound care.

Dr. Taylor has been published numerous times in various Vascular and Medical Journals. Prior to beginning his own practice in 2012, Dr. Taylor was an Associate Professor at UAB Hospital in the Dept of Vascular Surgery, training Surgical Residents, Vascular Fellows, as well as working with the Physician Assistants residents through the Surgical PA Program at UAB.

Dr. Taylor has many years of experience in the treatment of arterial and venous disorders.

Dr. Horst grew up on his family’s dairy farm in Burke County, Georgia. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Augusta State University, (now Augusta University) from 2004-2008. He then attended Medical College of Georgia (now also a part of Augusta University) from 2008-2012. He completed his general surgery training in its entirety at Brookwood Baptist Health System in Birmingham, AL, from 2012-2017. Followed then by a Surgical Critical Care fellowship from 2017-2018 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. His formal training with a Vascular and Endovascular Surgery fellowship was completed from 2018-2020 at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is a Board Certified Surgeon. He is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI), and is also certified in Trans-Carotid Arterial Revascularization (TCAR). His training includes extensive training in treatment of aortic and peripheral aneurysmal disease; treatment of peripheral vascular disease including aortoiliac occlusive disease, femoropopliteal disease, and tibial disease, as well as upper extremity occlusive disease; cerebrovascular disease, including carotid endarterectomy (CEA), TCAR, and transfemoral carotid stenting; dialysis access creation, utilizing and encouraging the “Fistula First” initiative; venous disease, including treatment of deep vein thrombosis as well as varicose veins; and extremity wound care.

Dr. Horst has been published numerous times in various vascular and medical journals, and has presented his research on the state, regional, and national levels. Throughout his training, he has worked extensively in training medical and surgical residents, as well as medical students and physician assistant students.

In his time away from work, Dr. Horst enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports (anything with a ball, but mostly golf and basketball, reading, and playing puzzles (crossword and jigsaw). He is an avid SEC football fan, and prides himself as being a UGA Dawg fan who so far has survived living in SEC West territory.
